Battling Cynicism with Faith
I have a confession. Recently, I attended a Kingdom business conference in California, carrying a heavy heart. Life had felt weighty lately. I was running on empty, pushing forward in my own strength. Ironically, I was sharing verses on social media, encouraging others not to lean on their own understanding and have faith, but deep down, I was battling my own doubts and cynicism.
During the final session, a speaker said something that felt directed straight at me: “Cynicism and faith cannot exist together.” I wrote it down, underlined it, and put a big star next to it. I knew I needed to talk with God about this revelation.
When I got home, I looked up the definitions, trying to get to the root of what He was showing me:
• Cynicism: “A belief that people are motivated purely by self-interest; skepticism and doubt.”
• Faith: “Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.”
As I sat in my quiet place, God began to reveal more. He showed me that this message wasn’t only for my own heart but for the women we’re preparing to serve at Amadea. He spoke tenderly, “Beloved, it is essential for you to see who I am for you. I want to give you freedom from the cynicism that’s clouded your heart. Until you grasp that freedom for yourself, you cannot lead others into it.”
The Journey Of Faith
This is the heart of Amadea’s mission: to help women break free from the mindsets of past traumas that hold them captive and keep them from walking in the identity given to them by their Creator. The journey of faith isn’t about “faking it until you make it.” It’s about building a foundation of real trust, grounded in God’s promises and provision.
If He has called me to this journey, then I must trust He’s already equipped me with everything needed for it. And as I learn to lean fully into that truth, I invite you to journey alongside me, growing our faith together as we prepare to welcome these women.
Are there areas in your life where faith feels hard to hold onto? I encourage you to bring them before God. Allow Him to speak into those hurts, binding up wounds that you might not even realize are there. The freedom you seek is found in surrendering your doubts and trusting in His love.
